While going through some old archives I cam across a few photos of my previous 2008 Mustang GT California Sepcial. I purchased this car about a month after I met my wife. She was and still is furious about me selling it.
Modifications included the following
Charge Motion Delete Plates
JLT Cold Air Intake
Bassani Catted X-Pipe
Bassani Race Axle Backs
4.10 Ring & Pinion
Tuning by Chris Rose
It wasn't the fastest thing out there, but those 4.10's really made it a great around town. It still managed 25mpg on the highway!

"I purchased this car about a month after I met my wife. She was and still is furious about me selling it"
this sentence did not end as I expected

She literally tried buying it back from the dealership I traded it to. She was a college student at the time though and simply couldn't afford it.

The 4.6L v8 found in the 2005-2010 Mustangs have what is known as a charge motion plate. It's a plate that rests between the cylinder head intake ports and the intake manifold. The plates have butterfly valves in them that open and close depending on throttle position and rpm.
At part throttle and low rpm the valves remain close to increase intake air velocity which improves torque. As RPM's rise the valves open allowing freeer flow and more top end power. It's similar to the IMRC (Intake Manifold Runner Control) valves found on 96-98 Cobra mustangs.
For a modified car (especially one with 4.10's) these plates do nothing but add complication to tuning tables and reduce flow through the engine. So you replace them with plates that lack the valves and tune for the difference.
Without the stock plates in place the car drove 10x better.

Thanks! It was a car that IMHO really didn't have a bad angle.

You missing your car made me miss my '05 GT (4.10's, Brenspeed tune, K&N CAI, BBK throttle body, Ford Racing exhaust)... :(
old guy ran into me and I sold it shortly after...

I regret selling my 07' GT with mods. :(
Lowered, roll bars, strut tower bars all around, JLT intake, Bama Tuned, Aluminum one-piece driveshaft, Hurst Billet STS, 18" Y2K Cobra R reps, catless H. Such a magical car. Fudge.

Sounds so good! I never got around to the suspension stuff I wanted to do. At least we have our regrets together?

It sounded like gold. Everytime I started her up.. took her for the midnight runs, up and down the highway, downshifting, rev-matching. She's the one car I truly learned how to drive standard on. She was so pretty. Spent hours upon hours detailing her, putting thousands of dollars worth of gas in her, but so many memories. I'll miss her.
We will definitely have our regrets together.

Dude. Thats beautiful. Good color too! :) I'm now trying to figure out where I want to go from here in the car realm, but I'm going to take my time as just the thought of my stang still smarts.

I sold this and an 07 Sonata V6 for an 2013 STi - it's a fun car.. I'm thinking of modding this one, but it's gonna be a slow process, as the mods for this car are ridiculously expensive.

Oh fun! I've been having the STi on my 'watch list' but I just don't know anyone that has even an Impreza let alone an STi, so I'm kind of out of my element there!

I was too for sure! My buddy had an 04' STi once upon a time, that got me hooked to all wheel drive and turbo. The power delivery is MUCH different than the linear of the V8. The STi is a great ride, if you have winter with lots of snow. It's a bloody fast sled. If you don't have winter, than I'd of bought something else. (or kept the mustang.)
My next car might be an (used) Cherokee SRT8 or next generation TL(X).. seeing as though I cant afford an F-Type. LOL.
What else is on your list, conrader, if you don't mind me asking?
P.S. if you have any questions regarding the STi feel free to ask! :)

We do have horrible weather here in KS for sure, but I don't have to drive very often since I work from home mainly. AWD sounds like a lot of fun to me though, especially since I fancy myself a rally driver in my head!
I hear you about that F-Type!! DAMN that thing gets me going. It would be on my list if, well, you know. Money! If only I could quadruple my budget somehow! :D
My list...man, there's been a bunch of stuff on it. Things kind of come and go and things really depend on my timeline for actually taking the plunge on another car. For some (odd) reason I seem to end up on Mustangs again, but more of the 13-14 flavor (until the '15 comes out, I suppose. I'll need to get some pretty solid reviews in before I'd take a leap like that).
Part of me wants the feel of something fancy, like a Porsche maybe, but budget would put me in 996 territory and that scares me a little (lot). It also wouldn't really make sense what with all the country roads and no curves around here. Plus insurance(?).
I've been lusting over a used Elise, but there again my something (sense?) kicks in and says the nearest Lotus dealer is 6+ hours away if I absolutely had to take it in for something specific.
S2000 is a curiosity of mine, but for the price of insurance on those damn things, I basically talk myself out of them since if I'm paying that much for insurance it had better be really really worth it.
Obviously the STi is interesting to me, and many many others. Depends what I'm feeling that particular week, I suppose. It gets a bit irritating since I had my Mustang for 6 years and was always at least relatively happy with it. I'd get the urge of just wanting something different, but I could always just mash the throttle and everything else would just disappear. Eh, I'm just all over the place!
